Invest in yourself! As a member of AFP – Regina Chapter, you are eligible to receive scholarships and awards to assist in your professional development, to enhance your fundraising skills, and to serve your organization with increased commitment to our profession.
The purpose of the AFP Regina Chapter Professional Development Scholarship is to promote and enhance the professional development of fund development professionals in our service area by helping offset the cost associated with attending AFP conferences and/or self-selected educational opportunities.
The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Regina Chapter has made some changes to our available scholarships. We will be providing scholarships to recipients to attend a variety of self-selected educational programs that meet their individual needs as fund development professionals. Scholarships may be awarded to a maximum of $2,000 to cover conference registration, accommodations and travel expenses (meals not included).
Guidelines for scholarships:
- Applicants must be AFP members in good standing (dues paid up to date)
- Applicant must demonstrate the relevance of the requested training as it benefits to fund development
- Applicant must provide a one page follow up report to the Regina Chapter (for the purposes of sharing impact reporting with the association as a whole)
- Provide receipting with follow up reporting
Please Note: Applications for scholarships will be accepted throughout the 2017/18 year but will only be reviewed quarterly beginning in October 2017. Please ensure that submissions are received prior to the review dates below.

AFP Canadian Foundation’s National Scholarship Program
This scholarship program is open to both AFP members and non-members, as well as AFP events and non AFP events. The National Scholarship Program aims to assist individuals employed in the fundraising and not-for-profit sectors in attending educational events in order to develop and improve their knowledge and skills. Scholarships up to a value of $1000 will be awarded to successful applicants to cover registration, travel and/or tuition fees.
Deadline for applications is September 15th, 2017.
Chamberlain Scholarship (Additional Available Scholarship)
The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy is proud to offer the Chamberlain Scholarship Program for the AFP International Conference on Fundraising. This program is designed to help individuals serving non-profit organizations develop their knowledge and skills in fundraising. In addition to the Chamberlain Scholarship, AFP-Regina will award an additional scholarship to provide assistance in defraying expenses not covered in the Chamberlain Scholarship. The conference takes place in New Orleans, LA from April 15th - 17th, 2018.
- Application Deadline: DEADLINE EXTENDED to Friday, December 8, 2017 at noon CST.
- Scholarship Value: $1000.00 + the Chamberlain Scholarship (full registration fee minus processing fee)

The AFP Regina Chapter will select their Chamberlain Scholar based on the following criteria, which are established by the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy and may be supplemented by criteria set by the local AFP chapter:
*Candidate is employed as a fundraising professional or, if candidate is an executive director, a substantial amount of time must be devoted to fundraising.
*Candidate has never attended an AFP (or NSFRE) International Conference on Fundraising as a registered participant (unless a member of the Conference Host Committee).
*Candidate agrees to complete a post-conference online evaluation regarding his or her experience for the Scholarship Committee and attend an AFP Regina meeting to share his/her learning experiences at the Conference.
AFP Chamberlain Scholarship Program honors Ralph E. Chamberlain, CFRE
Ralph E. Chamberlain, CFRE had a long and distinguished career of service to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), beginning in the 1960s when the organization was formed as the National Society of Fund Raisers (NSFR), through the late 1970s when the name was changed to the National Society of Fund Raising Executives (NSFRE), and until his death in 1999.
Mr. Chamberlain helped to form one of the organization’s earliest chapters, today known as the Greater New York Chapter. He served as the fourth chair of NSFR’s Board of Directors from 1967-1969 and as chair of the NSFRE Foundation from 1982-1985.
Most of Mr. Chamberlain’s fundraising career was spent with The Salvation Army, serving many years as the director of development and director of the National Information Service. He was also founder and chairman of the board of Precise Kit Promotions Inc., a manufacturer of disaster aid kits for private and government agencies.
A deeply committed philanthropist and volunteer, Mr. Chamberlain devoted much of his time to education, health and arts programs and causes. He served on the board of Hartwick College (Oneonta, N.Y.), Hassett Healthcare (Cooperstown, N.Y.), Glimmerglass Opera (Cooperstown, N.Y.), the Farmer’s Museum (Cooperstown, N.Y.), the Bergen County, NJ 200 Club and the Do-er’s Club of Bloomingdale, N.J. He frequently helped those organizations with their fundraising campaigns and other activities. A music lover himself, Mr. Chamberlain played the trombone with a professional orchestra in Syracuse, N.Y.
Mr. Chamberlain’s dedication to the organization we now know as AFP never faltered in his long volunteer career with the Association. Because of his long-time support of the Foundation’s annual fund and generous planned gift, the AFP Board of Directors renamed their Conference Scholar Program in 2000 to honor Mr. Chamberlain’s memory and commitment to the Association.
