President's Message

Stephanie Kohlruss

Fundraising certainly has transformed over the years, and continues to evolve in an ever-changing philanthropic landscape. To be successful in today’s social profit sector, fundraising professionals need to be skilled researchers, keen relationship builders, adept in the fields of marketing, communications, event planning, tax law, and of course the wide variety of gifting options and engagement opportunities available to donors.

While all of these skills are essential to a fundraiser’s success, they must also be paired with complete transparency and the highest standards of ethical fundraising practices. Through education, resources, research, mentorship, and the Fundraising Code of Ethics and adherence to the Donor Bill of Rights, AFP provides its members with the tools needed to achieve excellence in our sector. With more than 30,000 members and 230 chapters worldwide, AFP is the largest association for professional fundraisers in the world.

I encourage you to join our chapter and take advantage of the many benefits available to you and your organization. Your membership opens the door to scholarship bursaries, professional growth and development, and networking opportunities that will surely enhance your skills as a fundraiser for years to come.

I wish you and your fundraising efforts all the best in 2016 and beyond.
